Ronald Montgomery - Biography

Author Ronald MontgomeryOn a really good day, Ron is likely to describe himself with a smile as "Broken Pottery."  Until recently, he was a reluctant and extremely private writer who, on request for family and friends, scribbled lines on napkins and matchbooks.  Ask him and he'll tell you that these same lines that turned into poems are "scribbled in secret, safe places" within his heart.

To understand who Ron is today, and his allusion to "Broken Pottery," you would need to know several things.  First of all, he was raised as a Catholic. Further, he is the grandson of an Episcopalian bishop.  That he was the quintessential rebellious radical of the sixties is also important.  He spent three decades in a tortured search for truth, his place and meaning for his life, and seeking the "higher power" to which many allude.  At the end of his fight and flight, he came full-circle and back to the answer - God.  In  October 1996, his search ended and he began a journey of faith.

At that point, Ron began the next struggle..., to understand the mind of God.  This, however, is not the torture of previous years, but a daily work of joy.  If you stopped by Ron's office to talk, and he is always willing share a smile and talk, you might ask him two questions.  "What do you mean by this allusion to broken pottery?  And, how does one understand the mind of God?"

Ron's replies are simple.  He asserts, "God does his best work with broken pottery.  Since I'm broken, I spill out.  He repairs it and fills it with something far better...His Love, His Goodness, His Grace and His Blessings."

To answer the second question, Ron says "Understanding the mind of God. That's simply, spirit to Spirit."  He smiles and goes back to his writing.
