| Ronald Montgomery is
a Saint Louis native who began at an early age to expand his world beyond
these Missouri boundaries. Shaking off the formative influence of
living in the heartland is improbable and undesirable. He has simply
added bushel baskets of experiences, friends and extended family. He is
still a native Saint Louisan, but he now claims the seven continents, and
myriad islands as the places where his “world family” resides.
At the father of two, he began collecting
thoughts that he anticipated sharing with his children. Pieces that
began as short stories and reminders written on napkins and matchbooks
turned into books of poetry. With the support and encouragement of his
children, the audience has broadened to include a broad spectrum of readers.
He is an observer and frequently
a participant in his poetry. His lines capture poignant events conjured
up by life. His style of writing, much like a camera, captures the emotions
— tragedies and joys of living — as single events in time. Through his
lens, he has a clear view of life’s stage. His, is a talent heralded by
many, as the most imaginative and perceptive since Nikki Giovanni.
"Tears of
a Rose" is the first in a series of writing pursuits. This volume of
poetry is followed by a second and equally stimulating set of verse — “Escape
from Cape Coast Castle.” He invites the reader on a symbolic
journey through a “middle passage” of life that recounts oral history,
and links to the genetic artifacts of culture and race in America.
A third volume, entitled “Rare
Flowers in Life’s Garden” follows the “Escape…” In this volume,
Ron talks candidly about relationships, but not necessarily romance.
Here he looks at the experiences in life that are unique to each individual
and common to life.
Ron’s deepest relationship is addressed
in volume four – “PSALM of the Heart-Fortress.”
In this book, he tells the story of an intimate relationship from several
perspectives. It is a SPIRIT to Spirit communication between the reader
and God. You will be blessed by the insight and wit that lives in the lines
of his cleverly spun verse.
In his latest book, Ron replies to
readers that have asked for a book dedicated to love poetry.
The response is “Only Love.” |
