Psalm of the Heart-Fortress | Only from here...

PSALM of the Heart-Fortress

Guard your Heart as a fortress. It is a seat for the King.
Though the battles are won, they rage on ‘til all is done.
This song is witness to one of recent thousands that continue on and on.

Happy came along and hailed to the gatekeeper, “Lower
     the bridge for entry!”
But, it had a Trojan relationship with Deceit and had no
     good intentions for the Heart-Fortress.
Seasoned, the soldiers on the wall, were trained-up to
     skepticism.
They held fast, and secured the entry and fortified the
     walls with Discernment.
“Beware!” they shouted and paid no attention to the
     World’s Reality.
The Soldiers commanded all, “Guard your Heart-Fortress
     It can be deceived!
We wait for Eternal, accompanied by Joy and Peace. They
     will come hand-in-hand!
They come shortly. Endure!”

Pretty-Sounds and Words assaulted the gates and
     Lullabied All within ear-shot.
“Let me in” it crooned. “I have come with Pleasure and
Happiness to excite you in your times here.
There is no risk. Lower your guard and I will fill you!”

Seasoned warriors prepared for battle by filling their ears
with waxed Wise-Words for this occasion.
They sang songs and praised the Teacher-King for
preparation in this day and sealed the gates.
The Strong-Warrior shouted to All, “Guard your Heart-Fortress
     It can be deceived!
Heart-Ears wait for True-Word, accompanied by Joy and
     Peace. They will come hand-in-hand!
They come shortly. Endure!”

Finally, Lust attempted to catapult the walls for entry and to
     entice the lonely within.
“Hold me,” it moaned. “See me. I am here for you. Feel my
caress and remember me with your eyes.
Do not be afraid, we are no strangers. I am familiar. My feelings
     cannot hurt you…”
Armored for the battle that must surely come, the “Faithful,”
     comforted one another.
They fortified the walls where breaches and cracks appeared,
and smote her relentlessly into retreat.
They chanted to each other, “Guard your Heart-Fortress
     It can be deceived!
Heart-Eyes await True-Love, accompanied by Joy and Peace.
     They will come hand-in-hand!
They come shortly. Endure!”

The battles raged on for what seemed Forever-Minutes to Victory
     – ‘til all was won.

“We are Seasoned Warriors,” they shouted.  “We have
prepared for battle. Hear the trumpets of the
Warrior-King. He returns for the faithful.  Guard
your Heart as a fortress and a seat for the KING!”

They sang songs and praised the returning King for his
     preparation for this day.

The Strong-Warriors shouted, “The throne within our
Heart-Fortress is ready!  Make way!  Make way!
     Make way!  HE comes!!!”

Only from here…
A prayer for the long journey home.

You asked me how to find the way to that perfect place of
peace and tranquility… You sought the place where
opportunity and purpose would intersect to show your
     part in His plan.

I can only tell you what He’s shown me.  My path is unique.
No one stands in for me, just with me.  On the path, I
sometimes hold hands and embrace others to keep f
rom falling when left to my own devices.

In the end, you and I can only get to that place that we seek
     from here.
And the journey does not begin tomorrow, but yesterday, and
the days before when we began to recognize a path
beneath our feet.  We traveled even when we had no
idea where the path would lead.

You ask, “How does it feel to know the plans for your life?”
I tell you, there are so many things I have yet to know about
     my place.
The certainty of tomorrow is a guess and a wish for sure.
So if I don’t know about tomorrow, how could I know more
than the “now” of the plan?

I only know, what I think I know, and sometimes I’m not sure of
that. But today, I know that the rest of my journey
     begins here and now.

I am certain that I cannot get to the ordained appointment from
anywhere but here.  Yesterday’s path is gone and here
is where the road begins for me.

You ask, “How long is the path?  How far will I have to go to
     reach the goal?”
I tell you; yesterday I sat in sand that stretched as far as the
eye could see.  I looked for an oasis, and wondered
how many steps it would take, not knowing the path or
     direction.
Today, I look to the distance with a single palm tree in view.

As I approach, more is revealed with each step that draws me
      closer.
The way is on a narrow path that gets me to the goal, but only
     from here.
Following the path requires endurance.

You ask me, as I sit at the water’s edge, if I have reached my
     goal.
I tell you truly, although the water is sweet and cool; this is
only a resting spot en route to “my appointment.”   In a
play, the details are revealed to the audience as the
     plot unfolds.

There is no way to speed the delivery to get to the conclusion.
The path is revealed only through the journey.

You ask me, when will you have the success that I have?
Today, I laugh at this. Like you I ask Him the question, “Why
     am I such a failure?”
His reply to an adopted son was, “How can you be a failure if
you are part of My Plan?”  This is the answer.
I tell you that I do not know the answers to your question, but I
do know that He speaks to his children.
Following the narrow path is a journey of faith. If this sounds
unfamiliar to you, then your new journey of faith must
     start here and now.

He says that He will guide the steps of the righteous.  The
     steps are ordered.
I tell you, look to the future from here.  The desert will give way
to the oasis.  The mountains will give way to the plains.
The seas will give up dry land.  On the walk, even your
uncertainty will give way to an abiding peace in faith.

In rough times, do not despair.  He will send a host of angels
to walk with you – to protect you on the way “to your
     appointed place.”

If you know only one more thing, know that “you and I can
ONLY get to our divine appointments from here. But,
your time and your place are not mine.

You will not be late and HE will be on time.  SELAH!
